What it is

Soil classification (often called a 'soil test') involves drilling boreholes on your site, logging the soil profile, recovering samples and testing them in a NATA-accredited lab. We then issue a report classifying the site (A, S, M, H1, H2, E or P under AS 2870) with engineering recommendations.

Why it matters

Slabs and footings designed on the wrong soil class either over-spend on unnecessary reinforcement or — worse — fail prematurely from reactive movement. A proper classification protects your build, satisfies council and is required by virtually every residential builder before slab pour.

Our process

  1. 1
    Booking
We confirm site access, borehole locations and turnaround in a fixed-price quote.
  2. 2
    On-site drilling
Boreholes drilled to refusal or design depth; samples recovered and logged.
  3. 3
    Lab testing
Atterberg limits, moisture and shrink-swell testing in a NATA-accredited lab.
  4. 4
    Report
Classification, borehole logs and engineering recommendations issued as a signed PDF.

What you'll receive
